About The Position

Riverside University Health System Medical Center (RUHS-MC), an academic medical center in Inland Southern California, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Endocrinologist (Assistant Medical Program Director I/II) to join its Division of Endocrinology. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated physician to contribute to a growing program within a supportive, multidisciplinary, and academically oriented environment.

Position Highlights

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions, with a focus on complex diabetes management.
  • Collaborate closely with surgical and medical specialties across RUHS-MC.
  • Participate in RUHS-MC7s Joint Commission-certified Inpatient Diabetes Program, which emphasizes high-quality, team-based care.

Academic And Leadership Opportunities

  • RUHS-MC is an academic teaching hospital affiliated with several major universities and supports multiple ACGME-accredited residency programs, including Internal Medicine.
  • Endocrinology Fellowship Program being launched - the successful candidate will play a key role in developing this initiative and shaping its curriculum.
  • Active involvement in the clinical education of Internal Medicine residents and future Endocrinology fellows is expected.
  • Faculty appointments at affiliated universities are available and encouraged.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of California.

Examples Of Essential Duties
  • Supervise physicians, mid-level practitioners, healthcare staff, interns, and residents; monitor and evaluate performance; manage operations and scheduling.
  • Instruct physicians, mid-level practitioners, interns, residents, and staff on patient care services; provide professional guidance.
  • Conduct in-service training, rounds, and education related to medical treatments and medications.
  • Act as a medical consultant for primary and preventive care; ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Assist leadership with performance improvement, productivity processes, and program quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in planning and coordinating training programs; keep informed of current medical techniques and equipment.
  • Initiate and coordinate research projects; participate in conferences and presentations.
  • Maintain documentation for coding and regulatory compliance; prepare reports.
  • Assist leadership with program goals, policies, and budget planning; participate in committees and recruitment.

Experience And Licensure

  • AMPD I Board Eligible; AMPD II Board Certified
  • Valid California Physician and Surgeon license without restrictions
  • Current DEA registration
  • Eligible for certification or board certification in a medical specialty; valid California drivers license if required
