Job Summary
Neuro/General OR
*On-Call (as needed); Varied Days
*CST and BLS (American Heart Assoc) required
*1+ year of General OR experience and 2+ years of Neuro experience preferred, including Neuro Craniotomy-Tumor and Neuro Spine
This position is with Memorial Hermann Memorial City.
As a certified Surgical Technologist, you will provide expert perioperative patient care through skilled use of equipment and instrumentation. Acting as a scrub assistant under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will utilize your knowledge and expertise to serve as a resource and role model for fellow staff.
You must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patients across different life cycles.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program
Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS Certification and Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
- New Grad
- Surg Tech I = 1 year
- Surg Tech II = 2-4 years
- Surg Tech III = 5+ years
Principal Accountabilities
- Facilitates unit operations and supports unit goals by serving as a resource specialist for assigned operating room areas/specialty services.
- Exhibits knowledge of aseptic and advanced surgical techniques, ensuring expert patient care during elective and emergency procedures.
- Verifies the availability and functionality of supplies/instruments/equipment before surgeries as per surgeon’s preference cards and available resources; applies aseptic principles to ensure optimal patient care.
- Ensures patient safety by adhering to care policies, procedures, and standards while managing budgetary considerations, including efficient supply usage and accurate practice.
- Promotes professional growth by fulfilling mandatory/continuing education requirements and serving as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.
