We are looking for a student advisor who will counsel students and parents on all financial aid assistance programs. You should be knowledgeable of Federal Financial Aid rules and regulations. Candidates must have exceptional customer service skills. Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Financial Aid Module is preferred but not required.

This is a full-time position that is classified as non-exempt. It will be eligible for all UTHealth benefits, including healthcare coverage and participation in a retirement plan run by the State of Texas. Your work location will be in the heart of the Texas Medical Center at our University Center Tower at the intersection of Pressler and Fannin. This location is on Metro's bus and rail lines, and there are many parking options available.

Position Summary:

Counsels students and parents on all financial aid assistance programs.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Applies federal, state, and institutional policies in evaluating and awarding applicants for federal assistance, certifying loan applications, revising awards, performing verification, and computing refund repayment calculations.
2. Counsels students and parents regarding financial assistance programs, application procedures, and debt management.
3. Coordinates and performs entrance interviews and outreach seminars.
4. Responsible for front counter duties, including but not limited to: customer service, distributing mail, answering phones, and disbursing checks.
5. Monitors emergency loan programs and fund balances.
6. Prepares students' files for exit interviews
7. Interacts with local and outside agencies regarding financial aid issues.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Basic Office and Computer Skills.
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Financial Aid Module preferred.
Exceptional Customer Service Skills

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
