Job Title: OB RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: Permanent Shift: 12-hour shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Electronic Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation, EFM certification within 2 years Description: The OB RN provides nursing care for pregnant mothers beginning around the 16th week of pregnancy through the immediate postpartum period. The OB RN also provides care to the newborn immediately after delivery as well as care for families experiencing pregnancy loss. The OB RN is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a plan of patient care utilizing nursing standards. The registered nurse acts as a patient advocate. The OB RN provides support, information, and direct care and utilizes equipment and technology skillfully. The registered nurse educates patients and families on significant self-care issues. The inventory, distribution, and delivery of medications may be required. Work Schedule: May be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts or a combination per departmental policy. Scheduled off at least three holidays per year. Required to work weekends based on unit needs.
