The Finance Technology (FinTech Engineering) team is dedicated to building and enhancing systems that facilitate Zillow's financial operations, such as billing, accounting, and revenue integrations. We prioritize an engineering-driven approach and thrive on autonomy, technical excellence, and strong collaboration with our Finance, Accounting, and Tax teams. About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and constructing the next generation of our Quote-to-Cash (Q2C) platform. Your contributions will consolidate billing, pricing, and revenue systems, moving us away from fragmented workflows towards resilient, scalable, and compliant solutions. This role is highly technical and relies on cross-functional teamwork with engineering colleagues, product managers, and financial leaders to ensure our operations are efficient, precise, and prepared for audits.

As a Senior Software Engineer - FinTech, You Will:

• Design, build, and scale distributed systems that support billing, pricing, and revenue processes across various business lines.
• Develop microservices and event-driven architectures using Golang, AWS, and Temporal.io, focusing on performance, reliability, and observability.
• Contribute to the architectural framework of the Q2C platform, including key components like the Product Catalog, Pricing Engine, and Billing Engine.
• Work closely with Finance, Accounting, and Tax teams to ensure our solutions comply with financial regulations and internal controls.
• Implement automation, monitoring, and security standards to enhance engineering quality and minimize operational burdens.
• Mentor fellow engineers, influence design decisions, and help shape the technical strategy for Finance Tech systems.
• Lead modernization initiatives through investments in architecture, automation, and design patterns that mitigate operational risks.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to deliver secure, scalable, and audit-ready solutions.

Who You Are:

• An experienced backend engineer with a solid foundation in Go (Golang), Node.js, or TypeScript, and practical experience with microservices, event-driven systems, and cloud-based models (preferably AWS).
• Skilled in the design and construction of distributed systems, API-first solutions (REST/gRPC/GraphQL), and workflow orchestration (such as Temporal.io).
• Proficient in using cloud infrastructure tools (Terraform, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines) and data technologies (SQL/NoSQL, data streaming, secure integration patterns).
• Knowledgeable about financial systems, including billing and accounting workflows, and experienced in integrating or developing around ERP/billing platforms (e.g., Zuora, Workday).
• Familiar with SOX compliance, U.S. GAAP, and secure development practices, with the ability to translate financial needs into technical designs.
• Proven track record of owning complex projects, mentoring others, and influencing technological direction.
• A strong collaborator who can work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passionate about ongoing improvement, code quality, and utilizing AI tools to boost development efficiency.
