The AI user experience team inspires and accelerates people-centric futures for emerging technologies across the clients network. We work across disciplines, answering difficult user questions, prototyping, and sharing new UX practices with everyone.

UX Engineers work closely with UX designers, UX researchers, project managers, and software engineers on iterative cycles of design, rapid prototyping, and user research. Their work will directly influences the future of their AI products in hardware devices, on screens and everywhere machine learning tools are used.

As a UX Engineer, you will lead technical strategy and execution within the team, partnering with leadership across UX, product, and engineering.

Your work will not only influence specific features but will help define the long-term technical and experience vision for their AI products in hardware devices, on screens and everywhere machine learning tools are used.

UX Engineers in the AI user experience team must lead the search for solutions to open-ended, ambiguous problems lacking clear precedent. You will be responsible for defining the path forward in research, from early large language model tooling to robotics concepts. You will identify opportunities, advocate for technical investments, and set a vision for our team, inspiring teams as a whole to do what's best for our users.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead technical decision-making: Act as a cross-functional liaison to drive consensus among UX designers, researchers, PMs, and SWEs. Architect versatile front-end solutions that solve high-complexity problems and answer critical research questions.
  • Validate sophisticated concepts: Lead the creation of complex, high-fidelity prototypes to support user studies and strategic decision-making across the entire development cycle from early explorations to product release.
  • Set technical standards: Serve as a subject matter expert for the broader organization, embracing emerging standards while establishing best practices to push the limits of what browsers, devices, and AI systems can do.
  • Drive impact and execution: Deliver on large portions of projects by writing code, while also mentoring junior engineers and influencing PA stakeholders to align on outcomes that benefit the user.
  • Bridge research and product: Design and develop the front-ends of user-facing products, bringing a human-centered approach to brilliant research while ensuring engineering and design goals meet user needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of relevant work experience in software development or UX Engineering.
  • Deep understanding of fundamental web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS), and experience with the latest web standards, and highly proficient in the latest iterations of those technologies (such as JS/ES6, HTML5, CSS, REST, and mobile web
  • Extensive experience with React, Lit, Angular, or a similar framework.
  • Deep understanding of how to apply AI to accelerate UX and engineering workflows.
  • Experience leading the design and implementation of complex UIs and technical frameworks.
  • Experience with vibe coding approaches and toolkits, and an understanding of the best practices in prompt engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with general-purpose languages (e.g. Python, Java, C/C++, Go).
  • Experience with hardware rapid prototyping tools (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor team members, manage ambiguous projects, and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of UI design and attuned to the fundamentals of user experience, including accessibility.
