Join Osceola County Government to plan, develop, coordinate, and review inmate programming in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Employees in this classification assist with preparation of program records and reports, oversee social services programs, and serve as a community liaison.
Essential Job Functions- Provide professional development, coordination, and implementation of inmate programming; monitor compliance with departmental policies and regulations.
- Contact speakers, organizations, and specialists to engage their services and programs for the inmate population.
- Prepare and coordinate program schedules and information; maintain open communication regarding inmate programs.
- Obtain and develop promotional and explanatory documentation for various program classes and projects; duplicate and distribute program materials.
- Assist in preparation and submission of grant reports as directed; serve as a community liaison.
- Monitor educational and assignment status of all inmates; develop and maintain inmate program schedules; address attendance issues.
- Collaborate with hall monitors to receive attendance lists; prepare daily class lists and distribute to appropriate staff.
- Develop and coordinate use of pre- and post-test instruments as needed; prepare daily program needs list and assign inmates as indicated.
- Maintain detailed program records and reports; collect and prepare statistical information; prepare documentation as required.
- Recruit, orient, and train all inmate program volunteers; conduct program assessments and assist with reentry case planning as needed.
- Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field. SOAR Training Course preferred.
- One year of experience in criminal justice, corrections, and/or social work. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
- Valid Florida Drivers License required; complete two-day SOAR Training Course within six months of employment.
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions; communicate information clearly verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of inmate population program development, coordination, and implementation; link local resources to develop programs.
- Knowledge of community resources and social service resources; identify and engage community organizations that provide speakers and programming.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules, regulations, ordinances, and other regulatory standards applicable to the work.
- Read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, technical procedures, and legal documentation.
- Operate basic office and communications equipment (e.g., radio, computer terminal, printer, copier, telephone, fax).
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with inmates, social service agencies, co?workers, department management, speakers, organizations, specialists, and the general public.
- Lift up to 20 pounds maximum; frequent lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds.
- Walk, run, stop, bend, and climb stairs; walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time.
- Capable of working under stressful conditions.
