As the Lead Software Engineer in Test, you will take charge of ensuring data integrity, reliability, and performance across our advanced cloud-native SaaS platform. This role combines hands-on software engineering, proactive data testing, and an automation-first approach.

The Role

  • Lead validation efforts for data pipelines leveraging technologies such as BigQuery, Airflow, Cloud Run, and Firestore.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for data workflows, APIs, and microservices.
  • Establish quality gates for data pipelines, ensuring accuracy and reliability in data transformations.
  • Integrate test automation within GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for continuous deployment.
  • Collaborate across teams to enhance data scalability, reliability, and performance across all environments.
  • Plan, design, and execute both manual and automated testing strategies to ensure software and data quality.
  • Mentor and lead peers in adopting best practices in data testing, automation, and observability.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, documentation, and defect tracking to improve processes collaboratively.
  • Expand test coverage within existing frameworks.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in QA, Data Testing, or SDET roles with a strong focus on driving data quality at scale.
  • 4+ years of programming experience in Python; knowledge of TypeScript is an advantage.
  • Proficient in data orchestration and cloud-based ETL frameworks (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster) and modern data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake).
  • Strong analytical skills in databases, SQL, and NoSQL for validating and troubleshooting datasets.
  • Experience with CI/CD, GCP/AWS, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
  • In-depth understanding of microservices architecture and the SaaS development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and influencing engineering teams.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with functional test automation using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with FinOps concepts.
  • Background in performance and load testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance best practices.
  • Experience working in remote-first, global teams.
