Position Summary

Maintains the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current established policies and procedures, and federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment. Follows maintenance schedule and instructions from supervisor.
  • Performs routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveway, etc., including cutting, trimming, sweeping as necessary or directed.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repair on building and equipment including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical, as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Cleans windows and screens as directed.
  • Replaces burned out light bulbs including exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and performs housekeeping duties in very high places.
  • Services heating and cooling units and systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Reports defective equipment and equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Ensures maintenance supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary.
  • May drive a company vehicle, as instructed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous related experience preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Ability to interact tactfully, effectively, and professionally with other employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public, as needed.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with physically and/or mentally ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within facility and treat them with respect and consideration regardless of their cognitive or functional level
