POSITION TITLE: Elementary Library Aide
HOURS: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:15 am-3:45 pm (will reduce to 29 hours for the 26-27 school year)
WAGE: $16.40 per hour
BENEFITS: Insurances & PTO (Insurances will be available through 8/31/2026)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Elementary Library Aides provide supervision of students during library checkout. They are also responsible for both the check-out and check-in, as well as the implementation of billing for lost materials.
REPORTS TO:
The Program Aide reports directly to the building administrator or their designee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 48 hours of earned credit or
- Passed the ParaPro assessment (may start without the ParaPro certification at a lower pay rate until the certification has been earned)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Additional specific duties and responsibilities vary from school to school. Typical duties assigned to Elementary Library Aides may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervision of students during library checkout
- Facilitate the library check-out and check-in process via the district software platform
- Generate and distribute late and missing material notices
- Receive material requests from students and staff and then communicate these requests to the district book selector
- Decorate and organize the school Media Center in a manner that is welcoming to students and staff and supportive of the school's mission
- Create and monitor a system of checking out and checking share audiovisual equipment
- Conduct read-alouds with students
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal
