Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing exceptional respiratory care to patients, as per the physician's orders and departmental policies. You will independently manage all acute and critical care settings while collaborating with physicians and other healthcare personnel to optimize treatment recommendations. This role requires expertise in caring for patients across all age groups, including infants, children, adults, and the elderly.

We offer attractive sign-on bonuses for eligible full-time positions: $7500 for Direct Care Respiratory Therapists with one year of experience ($5000 for less than one year of experience) who are licensed in South Carolina. Additionally, we provide a $1,800 tax-free student loan repayment (per year) and potential relocation assistance if you are moving to our state.

Accountabilities

• Independently perform respiratory therapy procedures in line with physician's orders and department policies. - 20%
• Obtain and accurately analyze blood gas samples. - 10%
• Initiate, monitor, and manage all types of mechanical ventilation. - 20%
• Manage airways and associated equipment proficiently. - 10%
• Document and charge for all procedures accurately; provide education to patients and families. - 10%
• Communicate effectively with all healthcare team members, ensuring comprehensive and clear reporting. - 10%
• Follow infection control protocols and ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of equipment. - 10%
• Utilize resources efficiently, including supplies and time.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or eligibility for licensure in South Carolina, or a senior student graduating within the next three months.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in South Carolina or eligible for licensure; BLS certification required. NBRC credentials must be maintained. Staff hired before June 2016 may be Certified Respiratory Therapists. Staff employed from June 2016 onward must pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam at the Registered Therapist cut score and take the Clinical Simulation Exam within six months of graduation. Failure to pass the Clinical Simulation Exam within this time frame will lead to termination from Prisma Health. NRP and PALS certifications are required before working independently in the NICU and PICU.

Other Required Skills and Experience

The ability to work effectively in a teamwork-driven environment, along with strong communication, computer, and organizational skills, is essential.
