Team Description:

The Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team is pivotal in realizing our AI vision at Capital One. Collaborating with various partners across the company, we push the boundaries of science and AI engineering while developing proprietary solutions that deliver significant value to millions of customers. Our AI models and platforms empower teams throughout Capital One to integrate transformative AI power into their products in a responsible and scalable manner.

In this role, you will:

• Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to create AI-powered products that enhance how associates work and how customers engage with Capital One.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI software components encompassing foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
• Utilize a variety of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, and more.
• Develop and introduce innovative LLM optimization techniques to enhance performance - including scalability, cost efficiency, latency, and throughput - of large-scale production AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems at Capital One.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields with at least 4 years of experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies; or a Master's degree in the same fields with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• At least 4 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6 years of experience in deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud).
• Experience in designing, developing, delivering, and supporting AI services.
• Experience in developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies including LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, and Memory using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
• Experience in applying state-of-the-art techniques for optimizing training and inference software to enhance hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.
• A strong desire to remain informed of the latest AI research and systems while judiciously applying new techniques in real-world scenarios.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below. Please note these amounts are specific to candidates hired for this role within specified locations.

Cambridge, MA: $193,400 - $220,700
McLean, VA: $193,400 - $220,700
New York, NY: $211,000 - $240,800
San Francisco, CA: $211,000 - $240,800
San Jose, CA: $211,000 - $240,800
