Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Project Manager, this role is responsible for leading the implementation and ongoing delivery of the Housing Management System (HMS) project. This role requires expertise in application implementation, vendor management, and a keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively. The Senior Project Manager ensures project milestones are met, risks are managed, and stakeholders are kept informed through regular status presentations to the steering committee.
• Undertake overall project management responsibility in all aspects of the project, including planning , execution, and delivery of application implementation. Assemble and direct large project teams, develops detailed project plans and schedules and monitors budget and resources. Direct project activities with the goal of completing the project on schedule and within budget constraints. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Oversee the project through delivery including system integration and setup of post-delivery operational support and maintenance; act as clients single point of contact in interaction with vendors and managing risk/issues. Manage risks, issues, stakeholders through the entire project life cycle.
• Identify, assess and mitigate risks, drives resolution of critical issues and provide escalation management and propose corrective actions to keep initiatives moving forward .
• Apply advanced technical project management concepts with a full understanding of project management practices and IT policies and procedures to manage complex/cross-functional business and technology projects. Provide analysis for highly complex, project-related issues.
• Coordinate and integrate various workstreams-technical, operational, and business process-to ensure alignment and progress toward project objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, housing operations, and external partners .
• Manage relationships with vendors, performance monitoring, and issue resolution. • Identify stakeholders, and facilitate requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, and documentation of key decisions.
• Provide regular, clear status updates and presentations to the project Executive level steering committee and senior stakeholders.
• Ensure effective use of project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Smartsheet, SharePoint, MS Project ) for tracking tasks, milestones, and deliverables.
• Support change management activities, including training and communication to end users.
• Maintain project documentation, including schedules, RAID logs, and progress reports.
Experience Skillset Required - no flexibility:
• 10+ years of experience successfully managing complex, multi-phase IT initiatives and cross-functional programs through all phases of the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC), from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, and successful closure in higher education, housing, and enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques.
• Broad knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.
• Proven ability to develop and manage detailed project schedules with work breakdown, effort, task durations, dependencies, and resource allocation. Experienced in tracking planned versus actual project costs to ensure budgets remain on target.
• Adept at identifying and managing risks, issues, decisions, and action items to mitigate obstacles and maintain project momentum.
• Skilled in monitoring and reporting overall project health, including scope, schedule, cost, and quality metrics.
• Strong ability to escalate critical risks and decisions to sponsors and provide concise, executive-level updates highlighting progress, milestones, and key decisions
• 5+ years of experience applying communications and change management methodologies, including developing and executing medium-scale communication plans.
• Skilled at influencing stakeholders, building consensus, and moving project teams toward a shared vision or goal.
• Thrives with ambiguity and an ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, effective prioritization, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to present persuasive arguments to achieve alignment.
• Excellent presentation, facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal ability to collaborate effectively across all levels and bridge business and technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment from operational teams through senior leadership.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies
Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Information Technology or a related IT field Required certifications: Project Management Professional
Preferred certifications:
• Certified Scrum master
• Experience with housing management systems (e.g., StarRez) or similar enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with business process improvement
