This role is integral to advancing cancer research and expanding treatment options for patients, with daily activities that may include administrative tasks related to study start-ups and trial management as well as direct patient care to support those participating in research studies. Cancer patients often face limited treatment options as their disease progresses and this position offers the opportunity to help advance new therapies through research, providing hope and the possibility of improved outcomes while making a lasting impact on patients lives from the moment they enter the facility to the time they return home./ppA caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. with the option to work from home one day per week after six months./ppA caregiver who excels in this role will:/pulliAssist with coordinating the implementation and conduct of research projects ensuring adherence to research protocol requirements./liliComplete and communicate regulatory documents, develop data, monitor plans, report Serious Adverse Events as they occur and complete FDA and sponsor forms./liliServe as a liaison between investigators, research personnel, outside study personnel and central research administration offices to assist in protocol interpretation, enrollment and safety questions./liliUtilize the nursing process as a basis for patient care./liliAssess research subjects, complete nursing assessments, document findings in research subject records and notify the physician of abnormal findings./liliEstablish a care plan in collaboration with the research subject, family and research team and coordinate ongoing care./liliIdentify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning as appropriate./liliPerform telephone triage, nursing procedures and treatments./liliEvaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care consistent with CCHS policies procedures./liliAssist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical research protocol./liliAdminister medications and treatments as ordered by a physician or LIP./liliDirect, coordinate and participate in the evaluation supervision of nursing care provided to research subjects, establishing patient care priorities and delegating nursing activities according to the patient needs and staff qualifications and capabilities./liliConduct and document the informed consent process./li/ulpMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:/pulliGraduate from an accredited school of professional nursing/liliCurrent state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)/liliBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross/liliTwo years of clinical experience/liliWithin 90 days of hire, successfully complete certification in Human Subjects Research as required by the Responsible Conduct of Research guidelines adopted by Cleveland Clinic/li/ulpPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:/pulliBachelor of science in nursing (BSN)/liliOncology and/or research experience/liliMed/surg or ICU background/li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/pulliRequires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination./liliRequires standing and walking for extended periods of time./liliRequires corrected vision and hearing to normal range./liliRequires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours./liliExposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids./liliMedium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
