The Manufacturing Fleet Engineer plays a critical role in supporting enterprise-wide automation and robotics integration for internal logistics within complex manufacturing environments. This role ensures seamless deployment, commissioning, and operational support of autonomous vehicle technologies, working closely with IT, networking, server administration, and manufacturing teams to maintain reliable, efficient, and scalable automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support for enterprise automation initiatives involving robotics and autonomous vehicle systems.
- Assist plant and enterprise teams with implementing multiple robotics platforms and developing standard procedures and process documentation.
- Own and maintain integration of autonomous vehicle systems into existing IT infrastructure, including communication setup between COTS robotics products and internal systems.
- Provide Level 1 support, including troubleshooting deployment, networking, system interoperability, and infrastructure issues.
- Participate in Solution Architecture Design (SAD) meetings; assist in defining hardware, software, networking, file share, and communication protocol prerequisites.
- Commission and integrate autonomous vehicle systems at manufacturing facilities across North America.
- Collaborate with enterprise networking and WINTEL/server admin teams to determine root causes and deploy corrective actions.
- Support multiple OS environments: Windows Server 2022, Ubuntu 24/25.x, RHEL 10.x.
- Manage Tier 3 escalations tied to robotics or industrial automation systems (PLCs, industrial robots, industrial communication protocols).
- 5+ years of experience with networking, OS, and Linux environments.
- Background in automation engineering, robotics, industrial technology, or project delivery roles.
- Experience with Linux, Docker, and Bash scripting.
- Strong understanding of OSI layers, TCP/IP protocols, and interoperability problem-solving.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2022, Ubuntu 24/25.x, and RHEL 10.x.
- Experience working with virtualized environments such as VMware vSphere.
- Experience with at least two platforms such as:
- PLCs (Allen Bradley, Toyopuc, Omron)
- HMI systems (FactoryTalk, Screenworks)
- Autonomous vehicle technologies (MiR, Autoguide, Omron, JBT, Creform, OTTO)
- Experience with Toyopuc (highly valuable).
- Experience in automotive or manufacturing processes.
- Linux, Docker, Bash expertise
- Strong networking fundamentals (OSI layers, TCP/IP)
- Automation/robotics integration experience
- IT interoperability troubleshooting
- Windows/Linux server support
- PLC/HMI programming familiarity
- Autonomous mobile robot (AMR) systems integration
- Manufacturing process understanding
- Virtualization technologies (VMware) experience
- Supporting cross-functional IT and automation teams
- Identifying and resolving root-cause system-level issues
- Deployment and configuration of robotics technologies
- Documentation and SOP development
