Position Overview

The Payroll and Business Reporting Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with payroll and benefits regulations, and delivering reliable business reporting to leadership and key stakeholders.

This role plays a critical part in supporting both Finance and HR functions, ensuring data accuracy, financial integrity, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and organized, with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll for all employees using Paycor or similar systems, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions, benefits, deductions, and adjustments are processed correctly.

  • Partner with HR to ensure accurate hourly time reporting and maintain compliance with policies and laws.

  • Conduct payroll audits, analyze data, and resolve discrepancies to ensure data integrity.

  • Oversee the annual 401(k) audit process and maintain up-to-date records.

  • Reconcile insurance invoices and employee benefits with payroll deductions.

  • Gather, maintain, and analyze data to create business reports for leadership and department heads.

  • Review reports for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness before delivery.

  • Recommend and implement improvements to payroll and reporting processes.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and employee data.

  • Support Finance and HR projects and perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ payroll experience in a corporate or multi-entity environment.

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis).

  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Proven integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Paycor payroll systems.

  • Background reconciling benefits and supporting 401(k) audits.

  • Exposure to KPI reporting or business analytics.

  • Experience in professional services or financial advisory environments.
