You will have the chance to join our outstanding OR Team. Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, the largest hospital in Wisconsin, offers innovative care across various specialties. As a part of our team, you will make a significant difference in the Operating Room every day
Schedule/Hours:
Full-time, evening shifts with 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday with the possibility of on-call overnight duties (5-8 slots) and 1-2 weekend slots every 8 weeks. Be prepared for variables in staffing and call assignments, with a requirement to respond within 30 minutes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient surgical environment using aseptic surgical techniques.
- Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures to ensure optimal patient care.
- Assist in various surgical procedures and demonstrate basic knowledge of different types of surgeries.
- Set up and disinfect the operating room, ensuring all equipment is appropriately managed before and after procedures.
- Transport patients and supplies as needed, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Keep a specialty cart organized and stocked, verifying sterility and functionality of equipment.
- Follow guidelines for patient positioning and assist with lifting as necessary.
- Be knowledgeable of and responsive to the varied needs of patients across different age groups.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months of hire, unless exempted by leadership.
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
- No prior experience required.
- Understanding of aseptic techniques and surgical procedures.
- Familiarity with operating room equipment and instruments.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Physical capabilities including lifting, pushing, and transferring patients as outlined.
- Exposure to potential hazards consistent with operating room functions.
- Requires wearing protective gear such as masks, gloves, and gowns.
