Job Description:
Essential Functions:
  • Perform technical detail design, coding, and testing of applications.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for customer and internal discussions related to maintaining and enhancing existing software systems.
  • Develop and analyze interface design documentation.
  • Deliver large systems for tens of thousands of users.
  • Perform software analysis, requirements gathering, and use case development.
  • Implement and document source code according to design specifications.
  • Develop and execute automated unit tests and structured test cases.
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise software solutions.
  • Perform operations and maintenance of existing systems.
  • Provide direct technical support for high-level, high-visibility, and critical trouble calls.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop highly reliable software that runs at scale.
  • Mentor junior software engineers and contribute to product roadmaps.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Monitor IT infrastructure and applications to ensure peak efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide real-time monitoring for Mainframe and Distributed systems to proactively detect and prevent service disruption.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems through resolution.
  • Follow procedures to introduce changes and fixes into the production environment.
  • Provide timely notification and escalation to Level 2 system and application support teams.
  • Initiate and coordinate HealthCheck calls for problem identification and resolution.
  • Create, modify, and monitor job schedules in mainframe, Windows, and UNIX environments.
  • Update scheduler base calendars and build agent capabilities across platforms.
  • Support upgrades and new releases of applications and scheduling products.
  • Develop and maintain operations systems manuals, documentation, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to SLAs and performance metrics to ensure targets are met.
  • Provide technical assistance to IT Operations, Service Desk, and Application teams.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support for assigned products and services.
  • Lead maintenance and upgrade efforts for EDCS products and services.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business resumption initiatives.
  • Provide project management support including project lifecycle, planning, and documentation.
  • Cross-train staff and contribute to continual improvement initiatives.
Qualification And Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a degree, 4 additional years of relevant work experience is required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, architecture/design, requirements definition, and software specification development.
  • Strong experience in Z/OS operating system and operational software.
  • Experience with multi-mainframe systems and distributed computing platforms.
  • Proficiency in CA7 Job Scheduler functionality.
  • Familiarity with UNIX and Windows environments using basic commands.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages (JavaScript, C, Python, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
  • Proficiency with SDLC, agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, TDD, and BDD.
  • Strong CA7 job scheduling skills.
  • Experience with monitoring, diagnostics, and performance analysis tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Certifications:
  • ITIL Foundations Certification.
  • Data Center Management Professional Certification (CDCMP).
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
Technical Knowledge:
  • CA7, CICS, DB2, DFHSM, FTP, HMC, ISPF, JCL, JES2, NDM, TMON, Tivoli, OPS MVS, SAR, TSO, REXX, Clist, Visio, MVS Utilities.
  • Base UNIX and Windows commands and structure.
  • SAN technology and distributed storage management concepts.
  • TCP/IP, VTAM, and network topology.
