Metro’s Commercial Division provides temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics for perishable foods and related products. Metro Logics specializes in cold-chain handling, food-grade storage, and reliable distribution, supporting customers across food service, retail, and manufacturing sectors.

 About the role

Metro is looking for a Full-time Warehouse Associate to support inbound and outbound operations within its cold-storage 3PL facility. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for accurately receiving, storing, picking, staging, and shipping customer products while maintaining compliance with food safety and safety standards. This position is ideal for and individual who takes pride in detailed, hands-on work, values teamwork, and thrives in a fast-paced, physically active environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive inbound shipments and verify product counts, condition, and documentation
  • Unload and load trucks safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment
  • Ensure products are properly labeled, scanned, and stored in the correct temperature zone
  • Pick, stage, and prepare outbound orders according to customer specifications
  • Conduct outbound load checks for accuracy and temperature requirements
  • Assist with inventory control and cycle counts; reporting discrepancies promptly
  • Maintain accurate data in the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Follow established SOPs for cold-chain integrity, food safety, and sanitation programs
  • Operate equipment safely and comply with OSHA and company safety practices
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of freezer, cooler, and dock areas
  • Responsible for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with team members, supervisors, and other departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support daily warehouse operations

Skills/Qualifications

  • High school diploma, or GED equivalent and a minimum of one year of warehouse or logistics operations
  • Previous forklift operation and warehousing experience
  • Must be able to obtain Forklift Operation and Safety Certification
  • Working experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred
  • Must have strong attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Must be at least 18 years
  • All candidates are required to undergo pre-employment drug screen and background checks

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments (as low as -10°F)
  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend and kneel
  • Must occasionally push, pull, move, carry or lift up to 50 pounds
