Travel:
This position allows for remote work, but candidates must reside within commuting distance of Allentown, PA, to provide support for our local utility customers as needed. Selected candidates will be expected to attend in-person meetings and perform assignments within the customer territory in Pennsylvania on an as-needed basis.

As a Distribution Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing design engineering services for electric utility clients.
  • Developing work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), underground residential distribution (URD), and make-ready projects using customer GIS and WMS systems such as EFD, AUD, Smallworld, ArcGIS, Infor, EAM, STORMS, and Maximo.
  • Managing the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work.
  • Carrying out functional tasks, planning, and customer follow-up.
  • Conducting scope analysis of assigned work and maintaining adherence to schedules while advocating for client priorities.
  • Initiating continuous improvements to workflow processes to enhance efficiency and quality in client deliverables.
  • Gaining experience coordinating with conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, while also assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in urban settings, including work permit development, easements, and right-of-way applications.
  • Being adaptable to both office and field environments; local or regional visits may be necessary to collect field data for developing work packages.

What You Bring (Background Requirements):

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an accredited institution; additional relevant experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Experience with structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault current calculations.
  • Reliable transportation for local or regional customer-related travel (travel expenses reimbursed at IRS-approved rates).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

You May Also Have Experience In:

  • Cost estimation, development of a Bill of Materials (BOM), and calculating Contributions In Aid of Construction (CIAC).
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Pole Foreman, Pull Planner, and Katapult.
  • Work management and job estimating software.
  • CAD or MicroStation for Electrical Distribution design.

Pay Range: $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
