Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Fortran developer or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding and proficiency in Fortran programming.
- Experience with scientific and engineering computing applications.
- Knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies.
- Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting Fortran applications.
- Experience with code optimization and refactoring for performance improvements.
- Competence in conducting code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
- Ability to perform unit testing and validate code changes effectively.
- Familiarity with integrating Fortran applications with other software systems.
- Solid understanding of modern computing environments and migration processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
- Strong documentation skills for code and development processes.
- Ability to stay updated on industry trends and best practices in Fortran and scientific computing.
Responsabilities
- Develop and maintain Fortran code for various scientific and engineering applications.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and other developers to gather and clarify requirements.
- Optimize existing Fortran code to enhance performance and maintainability.
- Debug and resolve issues in both new and legacy Fortran codebases.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high-quality standards.
- Perform unit tests and validate changes to ensure code functionality and reliability.
- Integrate Fortran-based applications with other software tools and systems.
- Document code logic, changes, and overall development processes clearly and comprehensively.
- Assist in migrating Fortran applications to modern computing environments.
- Monitor the performance of production applications and make necessary adjustments.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and other stakeholders.
- Stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in Fortran programming and scientific computing.
