This role is essential for coordinating all repairs, maintenance, and Capital Expense projects while ensuring that equipment and facilities operate at optimal efficiency. The Supervisor will mentor technicians on company policies, repair processes, and safety practices, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.

Your responsibilities as a Transportation Maintenance Supervisor:

• Develop budgets for repairs, maintenance, supplies, third-party support, and spare parts inventory.
• Negotiate maintenance contracts and third-party support for transportation needs.
• Prioritize and coordinate daily activities of Technicians, fostering teamwork, productivity, and safety.
• Ensure team training on all technical aspects of transportation maintenance, including refrigeration and heavy-duty repairs.
• Maintain adequate staffing and required training/certifications.
• Utilize maintenance software to optimize asset utilization through scheduled maintenance.
• Monitor expenses by function and equipment.
• Be hands-on with repairs as needed.
• Manage spare parts inventory and purchasing processes.
• Cultivate relationships with vendors and contractors for quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Work nights and weekends as necessary for supervision or urgent issues.
• Oversee safety protocols to ensure shop compliance with all regulations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers, both in writing and verbally.
• Adapt to changing job requirements with a flexible schedule.
• Contribute as part of a team while also being comfortable working independently.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications for the Transportation Maintenance Supervisor:

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience in heavy maintenance.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience in automotive/heavy-duty maintenance.
• Strong leadership qualities: organization, enthusiasm, decisiveness, and accountability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Flexible work hours are a must.
• Proven technical knowledge of medium/heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Windows, MS Office, and maintenance software.
• 5-7 years of experience in diesel repairs and maintenance.
• Valid Class C Driver's License; Class A preferred.
• Knowledge of trailer and reefer repairs is advantageous.
• Required certifications include half of the following within 90 days: ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Brakes, Suspension and Steering; certifications for major diesel engines; diagnostics; and transmission/differential systems.
• Understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and CSA regulations.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English effectively for safe job performance.
