Produce Clerk

• Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of produce offerings to assist customers with recommendations.
• Assist in the preparation of produce platters and trays.
• Inform customers about our current produce specials.
• Recommend products to meet customer needs and preferences.
• Prepare, package, label, and manage inventory of produce merchandise.
• Inspect produce for quality and freshness, taking necessary actions on subpar items.
• Label, stock, and conduct inventory of products within the department.
• Report any discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Stay updated on seasonal promotions and special advertisements.
• Ensure proper temperature maintenance in coolers and cases alongside temperature log upkeep.
• Support safety initiatives by adhering to safety procedures and identifying potential hazards.
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repair needs.
• Report any accidents involving customers or employees to management.
• Alert management of all safety risks, including issues of theft or fraud.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts peacefully and cooperatively.
• Act with integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when necessary to resolve issues.
• Assist diverse individuals, including minors, those with special needs, and older adults, through direct interaction.

Qualifications:

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Ability to handle stressful situations with composure.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Must obtain a current food handler's permit upon employment.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Experience in a similar retail setting.
• Proficiency in a second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
