What's The Job?

The main material handler duties revolve around placing incoming orders in appropriate bin locations and picking materials according to specific blending requirements in order to fulfill production needs. As a Material Handler, you'll also monitor inventory, load trucks with finished goods and communicate any inventory control issues.

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 1st shift

What You'll Be Doing, Stop Scanning and Read This Part
  • Perform daily forklift inspection; capable of operating industrial powered equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks
  • Receive, distribute, and store products as directed in designated, secure locations.
  • Reviews cross dock shipments for quality and accuracy (damage and counts); review accompanying documents (Transfer Orders) for accuracy.
  • Transport and load finished goods from production to warehouse; wrap orders and place on trucks for delivery
  • Collect and properly dispose of scrap, cardboard, and strapping
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Receive and unload freight both manually or with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Assist with the timely fulfillment and delivery of products based on production schedule; replenishment of raw materials (pallets, finished good boxes, etc)
  • Able to communicate to multiple departments for overage/shortage of work order items, and for quality checks prior to delivery of order.
  • Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP) and warehouse safety standards.
  • Ability to work and contribute to a team approach with a positive attitude and outlook

What You've Done And Who You Are
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Prior warehouse experience preferred.
  • Prior experience using pallet jack or forklift preferred. Ability to obtain certification upon hire is required.
  • Ability to perform basic math for conversion of units of measure.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and analyze information.
  • Adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent time management
  • Knowledge of inventory control
  • Process improvement mindset

Physical Demands
  • Speaking: Constantly (investigates, collaborating with multiple departments, status updates, keeping key partners informed of daily progress of material request)
  • Mobility: Frequent travel throughout the Oats Overnight Facilities (walking in warehouse and production areas)
  • Bending/Squatting: Constantly (picking up product, moving product)
  • Lifting: Frequent - Lift 50 lbs. or less (full cases of product)
  • Able to be certified on manual and powered pallet jacks or forklifts
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment where temperatures vary with the seasons
