We're partnering with a frontier-focused investment firm that backs founders and ideas shaping the infrastructure of the future - spanning advanced technology, emerging science, and large-scale systems innovation.

They are looking for a Head of Research to lead a new Research Division dedicated not just to tracking trends, but defining them. You'll manage a team of experts in markets and technology to uncover underreported developments across science, tech, and macro systems, and translate these into actionable insights for investment and strategy.

Role Overview

This role blends deep intellectual inquiry with practical venture-level actionability. You'll produce rigorous research, develop frameworks for internal decision-making, and communicate high-signal insights across teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Published Deep Dives: Produce quarterly, thematic reports that explore emerging frontiers and their implications for industry, policy, and society. Reports should be hypothesis-driven, rigorous, and willing to challenge consensus thinking.
  • Internal Investment Research: Develop market maps, sector theses, and top-down frameworks that inform the firm's investment agenda and strategic priorities.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years leading research, strategy, or analysis in venture, think tanks, consulting, freelance, or academic environments.
  • Exceptional analytical range, fluent across technology, markets, and systems-level thinking.
  • Proven experience building or managing research teams with structured yet adaptable methodologies.
  • Strong writing and communication skills - able to turn complex findings into concise, high-impact narratives.
  • Broad intellectual curiosity across science, geopolitics, finance, and emerging technology.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and forming original insights before the market.
