The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is looking for a capable Journeyman Network Engineer to contribute to cloud modernization efforts for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at the Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Cyber, and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC) in Alexandria, VA. This is an essential role within a dynamic program aimed at delivering secure, scalable cloud solutions that promote operational agility and resilience across the USCG enterprise. As a network engineer, you will leverage your expertise in designing, securing, and managing cloud-based network architectures, focusing on F5 and Versa Networks SD-WAN and security solutions. You will collaborate closely with cloud engineers, cybersecurity analysts, and program leaders to foster continuous improvement and provide value to the mission.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud network architectures in AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments.
- Integrate cloud networks with on-premises Department of Defense (DoD) infrastructure via VPNs, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, and SD-WAN.
- Employ network segmentation, Zero Trust principles, and policy-based access controls.
- Automate network provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Monitor network performance and address connectivity issues employing tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and other packet capture utilities.
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity frameworks including DISA STIGs, NIST 800-53, and RMF.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, cloud engineering, and application teams to ensure secure mission delivery.
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Encourage continuous improvement through feedback and process enhancement.
- Align with USCG mission priorities and Leidos delivery standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Business) and 4+ years of experience in cloud network roles.
- Hands-on experience with Versa Networks SD-WAN and security solutions.
- Experience configuring and managing F5 BIG-IP LTM, GTM, and ASM modules.
- Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure networking services (VPCs, VNets, Transit Gateway, NSGs, Route Tables).
- Strong grasp of TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, NAT, and VPN technologies.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and DoD cloud security standards.
- Experience with scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Certifications like Versa Certified SD-WAN Engineer, F5-CTS, AWS Advanced Networking, or Azure Network Engineer Associate are preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with a Public Trust clearance and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
- Active DoD IAT Level II (i.e., Security+) certification or equivalent is required before starting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of ICAM integration and cross-domain solutions.
- Prior experience supporting DHS, USCG, or other federal cloud modernization initiatives.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with technical teams in cloud, cybersecurity, or enterprise IT environments.

Pay Range: $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
