The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. The New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) is an integral component of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The experiment station provides a diverse range of research, extension, and education programs that serve the people of New Jersey and the urban, suburban, and rural communities in which they live. Through its Cooperative Extension offices in all 21 New Jersey counties, dedicated 4-H Agents, Extension Specialists, Family & Community Health Sciences educators, and Agriculture and Natural Resources agents work to serve New Jersey residents in every area of the state.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Rutgers Master Gardener Coordinator for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Bergen County (County Administration Building, 4th Floor, Hackensack NJ).
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides administrative support for the coordination and operation of the county Rutgers Master Gardener (RMG) Program.
- Coordinates and supervises educational outreach activities (educational workshops, demonstrations, training programs, volunteer opportunities) for the Rutgers Master Gardener program.
- Serves as liaison to RMG Volunteer Committee in Bergen County.
- Participates in appropriate Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Bergen County committees and programs as requested.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferably in plant science, horticulture, ornamental horticulture, entomology, horticultural therapy, plant pathology, agricultural science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Two years of related work experience, including volunteer activities in horticulture, landscape management, ornamental horticulture, agriculture, pest management, vocational education or related subjects.
- A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
- Ability to supervise volunteer activities effectively, prioritizing safety, engagement, and success.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of educational program development and operation, volunteer management, working with diverse audiences, collaboration/coalition building, and promotion/outreach.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Effective public speaking, presentation, and demonstration skills.
- Must be well-organized and skilled at problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse audiences, awareness and practice of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrated initiative as a self-starter, and ability to perform routine job activities.
- Ability to utilize technology to reach and serve clientele; must possess computer and communication technology skills and the ability to learn new software for outreach, communication, data collection and storage, and impact quantification.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- NJ Pesticide Applicator license.
- Managerial experience as it relates to volunteer management.
- Experience with online course management software.
- Gardening tools and Garden Helpline basic lab equipment used for conducting horticultural related hands-on educational activities and insect/plant identification.
- Laptop computers.
- Microsoft Office suite and Better Impact volunteer management software, e-mail for educational outreach.
- Zoom or similar program for online meetings.
- May be expected to work outdoors, walk over rough ground, and lift and handle a 40-lb. object.
- Must have flexibility and ability to work daytime, evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Clean Driving Record.
