Port Arthur Operations Shift Supervisor

Primary Purpose
The Operations Supervisor reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for supervising a shift team of operators at the PALNG liquefied natural gas (LNG) site. The Operations Supervisor is a member of the operations leadership team works across functions at the site to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
The Operations Supervisor position requires participation in Simultaneous operations (SIMOP) reviews and work activities task-based risk assessments. The Operations Supervisor will schedule meetings for the coordination and approval for future Maintenance work activities. Participate in daily strategy planning with Production management and work to overcome the limitations and deficiencies to assure targets are met. Provide technical support to problem-solving activities during the shift and ensure reliability issues are identified and properly communicated to the appropriate department. Will also ensure that the plant operates within the safe operating envelopes, ensuring proper transfer of ownership of equipment between Operations and Maintenance, and determining and prioritizing maintenance requirements and write associated work orders. Promotes safety and environmental compliance at all times by ensuring that all safety and environmental policies and procedures are developed and enforced. Communicates and interacts with all the plant departments, plus consult with external resources to resolve plant problems, and improve plant reliability and safety. Manages the development, review and updates to the site Operating Manuals and procedures.
A major function includes the training and evaluation of personnel in line with role-based needs, which include development of key technical skills required to operate the facility and knowledge around Regulatory and Statutory laws and Company policies. The role requires enforcing and execution of key Production related systems inclThis position will be located in Port Arthur, Texas and is a shift based position requiring nonstandard working hours in order for the operations team to provide 24/7 coverage. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) is required.uding the Operations Training Simulator, shift handover, car seal registers, and control of work systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform field observations, leadership field walks, JSA reviews, tool box meetings, field self-verifications, and competency assessment field assessments.
- Interface with maintenance daily to participate in permit and scheduling meetings
- Ensure that the operations team is performing effectively by reviewing KPIs and monitoring systems and processes that will assure our short and long term success withing operations.
- Responsible to manage a team of operations staff to perform a variety of functions such as maintenance coordination, risk assessments, self-verifications, PHA reviews, and project support.
- Ensure daily continuous improvement techniques are being applied through routine meeting cadences. This should drive day on day improvements in how we operate the facility as well as improvements in our management practices.
- Responsible for control of work in the facility and is the designated "Area Authority" while on shift.
- Develops, update, and maintain Operating plans, procedures, manuals and programs
- Operator cross training and support in competency development for assigned staff.
- Manage shift staffing to ensure that competent certified operators are assigned to the designated shift assigned areas of the facility.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Qualifications
Education
- H.S. Diploma/GED
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 8+ years of Petrochemical, Refining, or Oil & Gas / LNG Operations Experience.
- 5+ years of experience, specifically in LNG Operations
- Strong ability to implement best practices for operations.
- Strong leadership abilities to build positive team environment, manage and influence team performance including mentoring.
- In-depth knowledge of operating site safety, environmental, and emergency response programs.
- Analytical thinking and ability to utilize concise data and information while working through problems and implementing solutions.
- Ability to apply strong written and oral communication skills while presenting and participating in fruitful discussions with internal stakeholders.
- Ability to understand the complexities and risk associated with an operating LNG facility and make necessary strategic decisions to safely and reliably operate the facility.
- Extensive knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PPT, Visio to convey information with clarity through presentations and reports.
- Understanding of maintenance work process and permitting systems.
- Demonstrates managing and mitigating skills, related to operational risks.
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret P&IDs.
- Ability to manage multiple and complex issues and work independently.
- Understanding of competency development programs and supporting tools and practices.
- Strong working knowledge of permit to work and safe isolation practices.
- Ability to lead and develop people in a way that inspires trust and loyalty.
- TWIC ( Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Required
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Process Technology or other related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
