Description

The primary objective of this position is to procure in-kind donations totaling 100 million pounds and establish strong relationships with the food industry for the purpose of soliciting product donations. This position will manage and supervise the Food Industry Partnerships Team.

Responsibilities:
  • To identify, develop and maintain relationships with the grocery and foodservice industry, which include but not limited to growers, processors, manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, restaurants, retailers, and food brokers to increase overall food donations.
  • Monitor and train the food sourcing staff to promote individual growth and professional development.
  • Routinely communicate with key donor contacts through telephone, email and scheduled visits throughout the San Antonio Food Bank service region. Visit sites and establish face to face relationships with partners.
  • To coordinate with the Transportation Coordinator the pick-ups and deliveries of all donations secured and obtained.
  • Assist the Inventory team with the data-base management of current product donors and with tracking of all donations.
  • Responsible for working with Feeding America and responding to surveys and product offerings in a timely manner.
  • Manage ordering of USDA products via WBSCM (web-based supply chain management site) and bonus offerings. Communicate orders with supply chain and distribution team(s)
  • To prepare regular written status reports on product donations activities each week.
  • Manage board committee made up of key food industry partners, coordinate bi-monthly meetings with this committee and prepare presentations.
  • Manage and coordinate two annual special events with the focus of procuring more food donations for the food bank.
  • To develop and maintain a "Plan of Action" for product donations, including both short and long-range goals and objectives.
  • To identify potential sources of support including the development and maintaining of a viable prospect list for product donations.
  • To analyze the productivity of donors using the current inventory management system. Creating reports and graphs to track trends.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training, work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, equality, creativity and teamwork.
  • Maintain mutually beneficial partnerships and on-going communications with other food banks in Texas through the Feeding Texas Network as well as other Feeding America food banks in other states.
  • Responsible for an ongoing program to acknowledge and recognize donors through thank you letters and other appropriate means.
  • When directed, assists the Development Department to solicit in-kind donations to assist in general fundraising, events, and operational needs.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in relevant field such as business administration, hospitality management, communications, public policy, project management, business management; equivalent work experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience managing full time paid staff.
  • Ability to travel within the San Antonio Food Bank service area including San Antonio and the 29 county area surrounding.
  • Progressive responsibility and experience in business development, fundraising, sales, managing partnerships or accounts preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the food industry, safety regulations, and trends.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including presentation abilities. Ability to lead and inspire teams, manage conflict, and develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience using CRM databases.
  • Good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to manage time and work independently with minimum supervision and ability adapt quickly in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
  • Valid Government Issued Driver's License and proof of vehicle insurance.

Work Environment

This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
