A global law firm with nearly 1,400 lawyers and more than 3,000 employees across 19 offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia is looking to build out a data lake to encompass both internal and external data. The role is a long-term contract and is remote. The firm is looking to hire a Data Modeler / Data Architect to join their team building this greenfield data lake responsible for the Silver data vault layer. The Data Architect's primary responsibility will be to design and implement robust data models to support Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives and Data Vault architecture. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for data modeling best practices, ensuring consistency and scalability across enterprise data layers.

Key Responsibilities
Data Modeling for MDM:
- Define hierarchies, attributes, and relationships for master data domains.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business requirements.

Data Vault Expertise:
- Support the design and implementation of the Silver Data Vault layer.
- Ensure compliance with Data Vault 2.0 standards for scalability and auditability.

Tool Proficiency:
- Work with MDM platforms such as Ataccama or Informatica (preference toward Ataccama).
Collaboration:
- Partner with enterprise architects and data engineers to ensure seamless integration of data models into ingestion, transformation, and governance workflows.

Governance & Standards:
- Define and enforce modeling standards, naming conventions, and metadata practices.

Compensation:
$62/hr to $75/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience
- 3-5+ years in Data Modeling or Data Architecture
- hands-on experience with Data Vault
- experience in data modeling for MDM and enterprise data platforms in the cloud
- MDM tool experience with Ataccama (preferred) or Informatica
- Knowledge of relational and dimensional modeling, hierarchy design, and attribute management
- Understanding of data governance principles and metadata management.
- ETL/ELT and Integration experience: Knowledge of ingestion tools like Qlik Replicate and Fivetran; and transformation frameworks such as dbt and Apache Spark.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Strong grasp of identity and access management (e.g., Entra ID)
