Salary: $90K - $95K and eligible to earn an annual bonus

Night shift - 2pm to midnight

Position Highlights:

  • Lead the implementation of a corporate safety program to ensure a secure work environment.
  • Encourage teamwork and effective communication among staff to enhance productivity.
  • Provide comprehensive training to mechanics and preventative maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies and industry standards.
  • Oversee the meticulous completion of repair orders by technicians.
  • Manage inventory control and the maintenance of equipment efficiently.
  • Guide mechanics in diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment to enhance skills.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to mechanics and maintenance shop staff effectively.
  • Organize transportation of vehicles to external service for specialized repairs as necessary.
  • Perform vehicle tests to troubleshoot issues and ensure repairs are executed to a high standard.
  • Address on-road emergencies promptly to repair trucks and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Division Maintenance Manager regarding operations.
  • Contribute to monthly financial projections and the annual budget process.
  • Ensure department costs are managed within budgetary constraints.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong capability to plan, budget, schedule, and supervise various projects effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of DOT compliance requirements essential for operations.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff to fulfill corporate and regional objectives.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and communication skills, focusing on cost-effective solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience with truck, light, or heavy equipment maintenance and repair (waste industry experience is preferred).
  • Proven ability to train and motivate team members is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems required.
  • Technical or Trade School Certificate preferred; High School Diploma or Equivalent is mandatory.
  • Must obtain or be eligible for CDL certification within 90 days of start date.
  • Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair is essential to the role.
