Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Nuclear Medicine Technologists of the Nuclear Medicine and/or Molecular Imaging & Therapy departments are state and nationally registered professionals who possesses the required skills and judgement necessary to obtain quality nuclear medicine studies. Additionally:
  • The Technologist II will work under the supervision of the Technical Supervisor and the Nuclear Medicine Radiologist to perform routine and advanced nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist II must also possess the required skills and judgment necessary to cross train into the area of PET/CT.
  • This includes contrast administration, prevention and recognition of contrast reactions, post processing and reconstruction of exam data.
  • Technologists are responsible for educating the patient and/or family about the procedure, administering radiopharmaceuticals, positioning patient for accurate and clear images, and providing post procedure instructions.
  • The technologist accurately documents all patient information in the appropriate systems.
  • All Nuclear Medicine Technologist positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital adjacent imaging center locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree or higher. Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program required.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years continuous experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Prior PET/CT experience is preferred.
License Required:

State of California Certified Technologist Nuclear Medicine (CTNM) license

Certifications Required
  • AHA BLS Certification is required.
  • Advanced certification in Nuclear Medicine from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT-N or NMTCB-CNMT

Certifications Preferred

Advanced certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Computed Tomography (required for techs performing PET/CT)
