The City of Sterling Heights is seeking a Full-Time Laborer within the Department of Public Works
  • Pay starting at $24.3991/hr.
  • Pay increases on your anniversary date and annually on July 1st

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Division Supervisor, a Laborer is integral to the DPW's field operations and expected to perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and replacement tasks associated with the City's public infrastructure, including major and local roads and water, storm water, and sanitary sewer systems. A Laborer must be proficient in operating vehicles and equipment essential to these job tasks. Carrying out the DPW's mission requires that a Laborer be task-oriented, hardworking, and committed to producing exemplary public services for the City's residents and businesses.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Ability to perform essential job functions as listed in the job description
  • Valid unrestricted Michigan Driver's License and possess a good driving record
  • A valid Group B State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License with Air Brakes endorsement is required at time of appointment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
