We are on the lookout for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Machine Learning Specialist who has a strong background in Computer Vision for damage detection and segmentation. In this exciting role, you will create, enhance, and implement advanced machine learning models specifically designed for identifying vehicle damage.
As a Senior Machine Learning Specialist focusing on Computer Vision, you will collaborate with a diverse team and utilize one of the largest and most varied collections of vehicle imagery. This invaluable resource, comprising millions of vehicles captured through our extensive Manheim auction and partner networks, allows you to innovate with cutting-edge machine learning models that redefine accuracy and reliability in damage detection.
Your developed models will be integrated into Cox Automotive's mobile platforms and fixed Imaging Tunnels at Manheim auctions across the nation, paving the way for the future of vehicle damage analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the innovation and fine-tuning of computer vision algorithms for automated damage assessment.
- Design, train, and refine deep learning models such as CNNs & transformers tailored for damage detection, classification, and segmentation.
- Create and curate datasets in collaboration with Cox Automotive's annotation partners using our vast catalog of vehicle images and condition reports.
- Work closely with data engineers and software developers to ensure smooth model integration into robust, production-level systems.
- Stay ahead of advancements by researching and prototyping innovative approaches in computer vision and machine learning.
- Clearly communicate results, challenges, and potential improvements with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Help establish team best practices for code quality and reproducibility.
- Exhibit a solid understanding of AI capabilities, ethical considerations, and appropriate AI tools in problem-solving.
- Review AI outputs for precision, compliance, and alignment with organizational standards, ensuring AI implementation generates measurable outcomes.
- Maintain best practices concerning data integrity, security, and ethical usage while minimizing bias and safeguarding sensitive information.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Authorized to work in the United States for any employer without the need for current or future sponsorship.
- Willingness to relocate to Atlanta GA and participate in a hybrid office environment weekly.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields, or equivalent experience (16 years).
- At least 3 years of professional experience in machine learning, specifically in computer vision applications (beyond internships).
- Proven expertise in image segmentation, object detection, or comparable areas.
- Strong proficiency in Python and relevant ML libraries including PyTorch, OpenCV & CoreML for both datacenter and mobile applications.
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants to enhance development productivity.
- Experience with annotation tools, dataset management, and version control.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Able to operate independently while also thriving in collaborative environments.
Desirable Skills
- Proficiency in C++.
- Experience with mobile and web platform model deployment.
- Dataset development experience with external annotation services.
- Data mining and analysis skills using SQL, ElasticSearch & AWS.
- Knowledge of Structure-from-Motion, SLAM & 3D reconstruction techniques.
- Familiarity with machine vision camera systems.
- Experience in front-end web development.
Compensation ranges from USD 108,800.00 to 181,400.00 per year, varying based on location, candidate expertise, and skills. Additional compensation opportunities may exist through incentive programs.
