HDR is Hiring a Transportation Engineering Team Lead

HDR is hiring a Transportation Engineering Team Lead for our Birmingham, AL office.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as leader of a highway/roadway design team and practice in Alabama.
  • Prepare or oversee the roadway/highway design work using local or AASHTO standards.
  • Prepare and oversee the roadway design elements of various sizes of contracts.
  • Prepare technical studies and write reports.
  • Manage projects and serve as task lead or deputy PM.
  • Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules through coordination.
  • Manage and/or provide the following Team Lead work elements.
    • Engineering, design, and project technical production services.
    • Make decisions on design and engineering procedures as needed.
    • Day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with clients.
    • Develop, support and manage junior engineers and technical staff as assigned.
    • Coordinate with subconsultants.
    • Keep projects on schedule and within budget.
    • Maintain client satisfaction and market awareness.
  • Assist the Alabama Section Manager with staff recruiting and development, client development, and business development in the state and local area.
  • Work as part of a team on a variety of transportation design projects and pursuits.
  • Function as technical lead on mid-size projects and task manager on large complex roadway design projects.
  • Supervise staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of transportation engineering/design experience.
  • Alabama PE or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • Hands-on experience with Bentley ORD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience.
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
