As a Software Engineering Director at Capital One, you will have the opportunity to lead dynamic teams working on a diverse range of projects. From developing innovative customer-facing web and mobile applications to creating robust RESTful microservices and back-end Java systems, your expertise will drive our technology initiatives. You should have strong experience in various areas, including databases, API development, and cloud computing, with proficiency in programming languages like Go, Java, Python, Rust, or TypeScript.
Your Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and grow multiple teams of dedicated software engineers focused on solving complex problems for our customers.
As the head of the AI Solutions team, you will be key in delivering groundbreaking solutions that harmonize, enrich, and extract insights from various enterprise data sources.
Guide software development efforts to ensure solutions meet customer needs and are thoroughly maintained.
Foster the professional and technical growth of engineers within your team through mentoring and support.
Drive the execution of workstreams to guarantee effective project delivery and robust processes.
Collaborate with product managers to grasp the required application capabilities and testing functionalities.
Continuously enhance software engineering practices within your teams.
Participate in Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies.
Ensure your solutions are expertly crafted for availability, resilience, and scalability.
Stay abreast of technology trends, explore new technologies, engage in technology communities, and provide mentorship within the engineering community.
Encourage innovation, diverse thinking, self-organization, and cooperative teamwork.
Work to enhance productivity within your team and across the organization.
Lead initiatives to deploy applications in AWS environments, transitioning monolithic applications into microservice architectures and developing new microservices.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
At least 7 years of experience in software development.
At least 5 years of experience in people management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
10+ years of experience in software development.
7+ years of experience managing engineering teams directly.
4+ years of experience in AI, Data Science, or Machine Learning with hands-on workflows.
2+ years of experience developing Generative AI models and frameworks.
5+ years of experience in Agile practices.
Capital One is open to sponsoring qualified applicants for employment authorization for this position.
The role is based in McLean, VA, with salaries ranging from $263,900 to $301,200, in New York, NY from $287,800 to $328,500, and in Richmond, VA from $239,900 to $273,800. Compensation may include performance-based incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
