ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a motivated Data Center Operations Technician to become a key player in our infrastructure engineering team. This role is centered on the installation, maintenance, and management of low voltage cabling systems, with a focus on racking and stacking equipment in data centers. While expertise in fiber technology is beneficial, the primary responsibilities will involve ensuring proper installation and connectivity of equipment. The ideal candidate will strive to deliver sustainable solutions while adhering to safety and quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install and maintain low voltage cabling and communication systems.
- Assist with cable management and equipment setup in data center environments.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and cleaning of fiber and copper connections.
- Adhere to Method of Procedure (MOP) and Change Method of Procedure (CMOP) guidelines.
- Utilize work ticket systems for effective infrastructure management.
- Conduct power distribution tasks and maintain organized cable management.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure timely project completion.
- Follow company protocols and safety regulations while communicating effectively with management.
- Document work processes in both written and electronic formats.
- Manage inventory of tools and supplies as needed.
- Respond to emergencies and resolve urgent client issues as they arise.
- Escalate technical challenges to senior staff for further assistance.
- Conduct service swaps on live networking devices.
TEAM COLLABORATION:
- Participate in meetings and training sessions to enhance job performance.
- Work with team members to meet targets set by leadership.
- Act as a temporary substitute for the Lead Field Technician when required.
- Propose improvements to processes for enhanced efficiency and service quality.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or certification in a technology field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in low voltage cabling installation and maintenance.
- Proficient in installing, terminating, and testing low voltage cabling.
- Knowledge of industry standards, including BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, and National Electric Code.
- Preferred certifications in the industry (e.g., BICSI TECH, Corning TS-LAN500).
- Strong aptitude for customer service with effective communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to operate company vehicles safely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Visual acuity for close vision and distance, with the ability to adjust focus as needed.
- Capacity for three-dimensional vision and spatial awareness.
- Ability to distinguish colors and effectively communicate verbally.
- Frequent standing and walking, with occasional climbing, kneeling, and bending.
The EOS compensation range for this position is between $45,000 and $55,000 USD. Factors influencing the offer may include experience level, education, and internal equity.
