PGS Worldwide is seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer to support a major aerospace and defense program in Chandler, AZ. This one-year, on-site contract-to-hire opportunity involves working on cutting-edge avionics design projects within the Launch Vehicles Avionics Design Group. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in printed wiring board (PWB) design and layout for aerospace and military applications using Cadence Allegro, along with a strong understanding of high-speed, multi-layer board design.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of recent experience in PWB design and layout using the Cadence Allegro suite
  • AA/AS degree or equivalent post-secondary technical training with relevant experience
  • Expertise in high-density, multilayer (6-16 layer) board layout
  • Proficient in routing digital, analog, and power circuits
  • Experience with high-speed digital design (e.g., SERDES, DDR3/DDR4, controlled impedance)
  • Familiarity with rigid-flex assemblies and mixed-signal layouts
  • Ability to prepare fabrication artwork (ODB++, Gerber files)
  • Skilled in footprint/symbol creation and library management
  • Working knowledge of IPC-2221 and IPC-7351 standards
  • U.S. Citizenship required (ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance)
Preferred Skills
  • Understanding of Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA) manufacturing processes
  • Experience with CAM350 or Valor DFM software tools
  • Proficiency with OrCAD Layout or Mentor PADS/Xpedition suites
  • Prior experience supporting military or aerospace avionics programs
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
Position Overview

The CAD/CAM Engineer will collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to design, review, and optimize printed wiring boards for avionics and test systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring proper electrical performance, manufacturability, and reliability in mission-critical aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform PWB design and layout for avionics and test systems using Cadence Allegro
  • Collaborate with circuit design engineers and mechanical engineers to ensure form, fit, and function
  • Generate layout documentation, fabrication drawings, and manufacturing files
  • Participate in peer reviews and design milestone reviews throughout the development process
  • Manage and maintain library symbols and component footprints
  • Support DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Test) considerations during design
  • Communicate project status updates to engineering management and stakeholders
