Senior Mechanical Engineer

Kimley-Horn is seeking a senior mechanical engineer with 8+ years of experience to join the Phoenix, AZ office This is not a remote position. Responsibilities include a project management role in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities. The role requires the ability to oversee the HVAC design of projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with the design team and clients. Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls is required, as well as proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas. Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24 is also required. Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability are necessary. The candidate will write responses to requests for proposals and requests for qualifications for various clients and marketing opportunities. Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team is essential. The candidate will mentor and coordinate the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects and manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance.
Qualifications include 8+ years of related experience, a registered professional engineer (P.E.) license, proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls, proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas, experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24, experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects, and the ability to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance. Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability are required. Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team is essential.
