Job Summary and Qualifications
Nuclear Medicine Specialist
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for performing all Nuclear Medicine procedures in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards to deliver quality patient care.
SUPERVISOR: Practice Manager
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Documenting patient information and performing non-clinical duties to support procedure completion.
- Welcoming and properly identifying patients, providing clear explanations of their procedures to ensure they are informed about their care.
- Preparing radiopharmaceuticals for scintigraphy, bioassays, and therapeutic procedures while disposing of radioactive waste following department policies and Nuclear Regulatory Commission standards.
- Conducting imaging and therapeutic procedures as required.
- Carrying out non-clinical tasks related to equipment maintenance and NRC regulations for Quality Control and radiation monitoring.
- Maintaining a clean and well-organized work environment with appropriate supplies.
- Participating in continuing education to expand and enhance Nuclear Medicine knowledge.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Reading, understanding, and adhering to all Physician Services policies and procedures.
- Practicing and upholding the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values Statement.
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in Nuclear Medicine (including formal training) is required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or certification as a Nuclear Medical Technologist is required.
- Preferred candidates will have three years of experience in a nuclear medicine department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate professionally with patients, nurses, physicians, and other staff.
- Capability to deliver quality results in diagnostic testing.
- Ability to provide a sensitive and supportive environment for patients and their families.
