Join our AMAZING OR TEAM Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is Wisconsin's largest hospital and the only one with a 24/7 on-site heart-care team. We are recognized nationally for providing innovative care across diverse medical specialties.

Schedule/Hours: Full-time, evening shift including 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with on-call requirements (5-8 overnight call slots and 1-2 weekend call slots within an 8-week schedule). On-call arrival within 30 minutes is required.

Job Description:
Major Responsibilities:

• Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care by utilizing aseptic techniques in preparation for and during surgical procedures.
• Maintain basic knowledge of a variety of surgical procedures and assist accordingly.
• Set up the operating room for each case efficiently, moving equipment and operating various instruments.
• Function as a Second Assistant when necessary and support team members by notifying them of any equipment or supply issues.
• Transport patients and maintain specialty carts ensuring their usability and availability.
• Adhere to protocols for patient care and demonstrate knowledge required for age-specific needs.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within six months of employment.

Education Required:

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Experience Required:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Understanding of aseptic surgical techniques and basic operating room equipment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Commitment to maintain annual educational requirements for hospital certifications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying 40 lbs., and pushing/pulling with 30 lbs. of force.
• Ability to perform lifting, transferring, and operating necessary equipment consistently.
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and biological hazards, necessitating protective wear.
• Functional vision and hearing are required. Frequent movement throughout the shift is necessary.
