Food manufacturer in the Middletown, NY area is seeking a QA Manager with USDA experience to lead their quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a deep understanding of USDA regulations, a strong background in food manufacturing, and proven leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the quality assurance team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality programs, including HACCP, SSOPs, and GMPs, ensuring compliance with USDA regulations.
- Oversee all aspects of product quality, from raw material inspection to finished product release, to ensure products meet internal and external specifications.
- Conduct and coordinate internal and external audits, including those from the USDA, and address any non-conformances.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, customer complaints, and non-compliance events, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with other departments such as production, R&D, and supply chain to integrate quality standards throughout the entire manufacturing process.
- Stay current on all relevant USDA regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality assurance role within the food manufacturing industry.
- At least 3 years of experience managing a QA team.
- Proven expertise with USDA regulations, audits, and compliance requirements.
- HACCP certification is required; PCQI certification is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
