Medical Assistant

Somerset Health Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Surgical Outpatient Office. This full-time role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is passionate about providing high-quality care and support to patients. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in both clinical and administrative functions, ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and a welcoming experience for all who walk through our doors. Final candidate will be placed in appropriate title and compensation based on individual experience and education.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize daily schedules and patient flow to ensure timely care.
  • Escort patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with mobility, dressing, and specimen collection.
  • Collect patient history, vital signs, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
  • Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one lab procedures.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information in the medical record.
  • Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms and equipment according to infection control protocols.
  • Answer phone calls and provide patient education and support as directed.
  • Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage patient charts and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and PA Department of Health regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
