Position SummaryKolbes Director of Finance oversees the schools financial, operational, and selected administrative functions. The role ensures effective management of accounting, payroll, purchasing, tuition receivables, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with diocesan, state, and federal regulations. The Director works closely with the Principal, administration, faculty, the Board of Directors, and various committees to support the schools mission and operations.
Overall Responsibilities- Financial Operations: Manage the schools accounting, tuition receivables, financial planning, budgeting, and reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports and cash?flow projections to support decisionmaking by management and the Board.
- Budgeting and Cash Flow: Oversee the annual budget process and forecast cash flow to ensure financial sustainability.
- Financial Planning: Implement financial strategies that align with the schools mission as approved by the Principal and Board.
- Collaborate with Leadership: Provide financial insight and support to leadership for decisionmaking.
- Prepare required financial reports for the Principal, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Analyze cash?flow data and provide explanatory analysis for management and the Finance Committee.
- Record and supervise all accounting activitiesincluding assets, liabilities, net assets, revenue, and expensesin accordance with GAAP.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
- Track restricted and designated funds to ensure compliance with donor intent.
- Reconcile contributions and scholarship support with the Development Director.
- Develop recommendations for tuition increases, scholarship budgets, and salary increases.
- Prepare annual budget proposal for Finance Committee review and approval.
- Ensure expenditures align with approved budgets and communicate material variances.
- Establish and maintain procedures and internal controls, and supervise accounting personnel if applicable.
- Coordinate the annual audit with approved independent auditors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in financial management or business operations, preferably in a school or non?profit organization.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Excel, Paycor, and FACTS software preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to interface and maintain relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and parents.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the school and the Catholic Church.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills highly collaborative and an effective team member.
- Self?starter capable of working with limited instruction and supervision.
- Prior experience in the Catholic Church and a not?for?profit organization preferred.
