RN Electrophysiology Specialist

The Registered Nurse (RN) Electrophysiology Specialist role carries out care within the electrophysiology lab setting. This position supports collaboration with the healthcare team to provide advanced patient care during procedures, ensuring precision and adherence to established protocols for optimal patient outcomes. The Electrophysiology Specialist CL helps deliver direct patient care within the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, Catheterization Lab and Catheterization Lab Holding room. This role is responsible for supporting high-quality, safe, culturally competent, and cost-effective patient care across all operational areas through comprehensive assessment, strategic planning, diligent evaluation, medication administration, and timely intervention and follow-up to contribute to the overall well-being and positive outcomes of patients.
Assesses patients' medical history and current condition to prepare them for electrophysiology procedures. Prepares specialized equipment and monitors patients during procedures, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes. Helps administer medications and maintains accurate documentation of patients' responses and procedural details. Collaborates with the healthcare team, including physicians and technicians, to support smooth and successful procedures. Provides patient education and support before, during, and after electrophysiology procedures. Adheres to professional advancement program requirements, engages in ongoing education, and mentors others to promote professional growth and development to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field, leading to improved patient care and clinical expertise. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing
Experience: 2 years RN experience in cardiac/telemetry or relative experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registry/Listing: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state; and Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) through CCI Cardiovascular Credentialing International. If not, must obtain certification within 24 months of hire in the EP/Cath lab (required for continued employment in the EP/Cath Lab). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider. Must Obtain ACLS within 6 months of hire.
