Electrical Field Engineer II

Overview:
The Electrical Field Engineer II will take charge of overseeing project controls and management across multiple disciplines. Key responsibilities will include supporting a Craft Superintendent, collecting quantities, scheduling, administering contracts, planning projects, purchasing, and reporting project status.
This role requires effective communication with all project stakeholders, including clients, engineering/design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and project management to provide updates on progress.
Location & Travel Details: This is a traveling, project-based position, requiring travel up to 90% of the time. You may work on project sites across various states in the U.S., typically for 8-18 months. Competitive per diem is provided alongside a strong base salary to assist with living expenses. This role also offers mobilization support, including mileage reimbursement, and one longer weekend home every four weeks.

Essential Job Functions:
- Represent the company professionally during all client interactions.
- Provide clients with required reports on a scheduled basis.
- Adhere to corporate and site-specific safety plans.
- Calculate quantities through measurements and assess work completion percentages.
- Develop processes for creating and reviewing work plans and packages.
- Ensure quality plans are communicated and all inspections are conducted timely.
- Manage daily labor timesheet compilation and customer approvals.
- Train staff on conducting Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Participate in job site safety reviews and trainings.
- Order and schedule material deliveries while maintaining procurement status reports.
- Plan and coordinate job site work groups.
- Conduct material takeoffs from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform basic engineering calculations to support site operations.
- Assist engineers in data gathering for various submissions.
- Prepare purchase orders and subcontracts as necessary.
- Direct procurement and subcontract administration from the home office.
- Provide field support and oversee subcontractors' operations.
- Manage all project records and correspondences.
- Create and track project controls, including productivity metrics.
- Maintain and update the master project schedule.
- Generate change orders and as-built data for the Project Manager's review.
- Facilitate the planning process and budgeting activities.
- Monitor cost forecasts to ensure project financial health.
- Act as the main company representative when required.
- Understand prime contract provisions and terms thoroughly.
- Prepare Schedule of Values and customer invoices accurately.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Support a short-term crew of up to 50 individuals as needed.
- Lead 1-2 other Field Engineers.
- Oversee sections of the field office staff, including engineers and procurement personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Field Engineer or in a similar role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and set a personal example.
- Ability to read and analyze engineering plans and contracts.
- Physical ability to access all areas of a construction site.
- Highly motivated with a commitment to excellence.
- Strong work ethic, dedicated to completing tasks correctly.
- Proficient in teamwork and independent operations.
- Willingness to travel extensively and relocate as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Capable of working up to 12 hours in varying temperatures and conditions.
- Must have the stamina to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in potentially extreme environmental conditions.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Hours:
This is a full-time role expected to typically require 50 hours per week, subject to project needs.
Travel:
Required travel up to 90% for direct project site involvement.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Annual salary between $85,000 to $105,000, based on experience.
