Your Opportunity: As Art director, you'll help shape and cast the visual style, imagery and tone for the Herff Jones brand in all aspects of B2B and B2C marketing collateral. From refreshing our HJ brand in terms of fonts/language and look, to design direction of product packaging, to leading the look for our various websites, the art director works closely with our Senior Director, Creative + Brand to define, establish and protect the HJ brand. Together, they work to create the overall design and direct others who develop artwork or layouts for various project work.

What You'll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:
  • Determine how best to represent concepts visually
  • Determine which photographs, art, or other design elements to use
  • Develop the overall look or style of a publication, advertising campaign, or film set.
  • Review and approve designs, artwork, photography, and graphics developed by other staff members
  • Talk to our internal clients to develop an artistic approach and style
  • Coordinate activities with other artistic and creative departments
  • Develop detailed budgets, timelines, and reports
  • Present designs internally for approvals
  • Attend appropriate meetings as representative of creative leadership
  • Be a good steward and ambassador for the HJ brand
  • Ensure that the desired message of HJ's various audiences are conveyed to consumers
  • Along with creative director, assist in approvals for various projects within the Wrike system
What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • Desire to lead Herff Jones to the next step in its brand journey
  • Clear vision and direction of brand and branding concepts
  • Curiosity to keep up with latest in consumer trends as it relates to B2C
  • Drive and work ethic necessary to inspire others on team
  • Collaboration skills needed to multi-task and direct others working on design projects
  • Record of exceptional brand work in last 3-5 years as senior graphic designer or similar position
  • Keen understanding of entire Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, XD)
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple projects and priorities
  • Presentation and reporting skills to keep leadership up-to-date on key projects and initiatives
