CSI Companies is currently seeking an Property Accountant for our client in Chicago, IL. Our client is a smaller, family-oriented company based in Chicago & rapidly growing. Representing more than 40 communities in the area, they are looking to grow their internal team.Job Type: Full-TimeSalary: $65,000-$75,000Schedule: Full Time hours; Monday - Friday Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (preferred; not required)
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for full-cycle accounting for portfolio of properties;
  • Prepare and enter journal entries for month-end close (accruals, depreciation, amortization, capitalization and true-up entries);
  • Review and ensure payables have accurate GL codes and proper approvals;
  • Review and ensure accounts receivable for reasonableness and accuracy; work with property managers to ensure rent roll accuracy.
  • Review and process expense approvals;
  • Analyze variances, review ledger details and record adjusted entries on assigned accounts;
  • Partnership accounting, including consolidation/elimination entries;
  • Prepare bank reconciliations;
  • Assist in year-end audits and tax preparation work;
  • Be a reliable resource to vendors, accounting department co-workers and other company personnel (whether at corporate office or in the field);
Skills Required:
  • Minimum 3 years' staff accountant experience;
  • Your personality should be that of a problem solver; You must find ways of streamlining processes;
  • Financial statement preparation, balance sheet, income statement, cash flows statement;
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and firm understanding of accrual concept versus cash accounting;
  • Strong communication skills are a must in order to respond to questions from property managers, A/P and A/R personnel; Strong phone and interpersonal skills required;

  • Background and drug testing required including references from previous employer.
