Job Overview:
The EHS Program Manager provides crucial leadership and direction for a designated site’s safety and health initiatives. This role is vital for developing, communicating, and implementing policies, programs, and strategies rooted in Marvin’s values-based principles. The manager operates as the primary Safety & Health authority at the facility, steering the local S&H team with a firm commitment to team and individual growth.
Highlights of Your Role:
- Design, implement, and oversee site-specific Safety & Health programs while ensuring compliance with enterprise policies, programs, and procedures.
- Ensure complete adherence to federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Safety & Health team to lead pivotal S&H initiatives.
- Verify that enterprise safety policies and programs are effectively implemented site-wide, in accordance with applicable regulations and company standards.
- Regularly update operational procedures to minimize identified safety hazards and risks.
- Engage in cross-facility Safety & Health audits to maintain high performance and consistency across enterprise policies.
- Work alongside other leaders to develop and execute an annual strategic goal plan focused on injury and accident prevention through proactive risk identification and mitigation strategies.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on Safety and Health data to identify trends and areas needing attention.
- Act as the primary lead in obtaining and sustaining OSHA VPP Star compliance.
- Stay informed on changes in safety regulations that could impact business operations.
- Champion effective investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective measures aimed at fostering a culture centered on injury prevention.
- Lead the local Safety & Health Team by making hiring decisions, mentoring, and training team members while maintaining a consistent staffing ratio per enterprise standards.
- Manage OSHA compliance, VPP initiatives, employee health and wellness programs, in addition to other training programs and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in annual professional development and mandatory education/training related to this role.
You’re a Good Fit If You Have:
- Expertise in OSHA standards that pertain to manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations from organizations like VPP, NIOSH, NRC, ASSP NFPA, and the National Safety Council.
- Ability to analyze safety data and provide actionable solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong presentation and facilitation abilities.
- A strong aptitude for utilizing technology.
- Capability to influence and engage stakeholders effectively.
- Strong relational skills with employees, leadership, and regulatory personnel.
- Understanding of Worker’s Compensation and the Return to Work process.
- Familiarity with FM Global property insurance requirements.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Ability to frequently stand and navigate the facility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in safety roles with increasing responsibility; environmental experience is a plus.
- Prior experience in Safety and Health leadership within manufacturing is highly valued.
- Familiarity with OSHA Voluntary Protection Program is preferred.
- Current safety certifications and designations are beneficial, including:
- BCSP ASP and/or CSP
- NSC Advanced Safety Certificate
- OSHA 30 Hour
- Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician Certification (OHST)
- Train the trainer qualifications related to Safety and Health
- Any related college degree
