San Francisco, CA, United States ExcelliSearch, Inc. Full time
Note: This is a remote role, but the qualified candidate must be based in California. Occasional travel (about once per quarter) to the Bay Area office or surrounding areas may be required for client meetings.

Note: The qualified candidate for this position must have at least 10 years of progressive tax experience and an active CPA license.

About Our Client

Our client is not your average accounting firm. They are an entrepreneurial, client-focused team of CPAs and business consultants serving closely held companies, family businesses, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals across California and beyond. With decades of advanced training, technical expertise, and financial acumen, they pride themselves on delivering value-driven insights, innovative solutions, and long-lasting partnerships.

The culture is collaborative and down-to-earth - jeans and t-shirts, not suits and ties - while maintaining the highest technical standards. Many clients have been with the firm for generations, a testament to the trust and results they deliver.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our client's growing team. This role offers a clear partner track, working directly alongside the Managing Partner who is planning for retirement in the coming years. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build equity and eventually own part of the business.

  • Serve as the right hand to the Managing Partner with clear advancement into partnership
  • Manage client relationships, offering proactive advice and tailored solutions
  • Review and supervise the work of staff and managers across multiple projects
  • Conduct high-level technical review, tax projections, and research on complex matters
  • Work primarily remote with occasional travel for client meetings and firm retreats
  • Collaborate with team members across California to deliver high-quality results
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant leadership/managerial responsibilities
  • Active CPA license required
  • Strong technical expertise in tax law with ability to advise on complex, multi-industry issues
  • Experience with trusts, technology, manufacturing, or international tax strongly preferred
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client advisory skills

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in firm ownership/partnership track
Why This Is a Great Opportunity
  • Defined partnership track with equity ownership opportunity
  • Direct mentorship and succession path from the Managing Partner
  • Entrepreneurial, flexible culture that values both technical skill and work-life balance
  • Diverse client base across industries and high-net-worth individuals
  • Fully remote flexibility with minimal required travel
  • Long-term leadership growth with ownership potential
Benefits:
  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement plan
